Shintaro Sakamoto is a Tokyo-based composer, producer, singer, and writer whose singular career spans Japanese rock and adventurous solo pop. He first emerged in 1989 as guitarist and vocalist for the influential band Yura Yura Teikoku, which released 10 albums over 21 years before disbanding in 2010. Launching his solo career in 2011, Sakamoto founded his own label, zelone records, and quickly established a distinctive sound through albums such as How to Live With a Phantom, Let's Dance Raw, Love If Possible, and Like A Fable.
His work has reached international audiences through releases, collaborations, and performances across Europe, China, Mexico, and the United States. Blending imagination, groove, and experimentation, Sakamoto remains one of Japan's most distinctive contemporary musical voices of the past three decades today.
He has just released his 5th solo album, "Yoo-hoo," in January 2026. Shintaro is also active in a wide range of creative fields, contributing songs and artwork to various artists.
